Cynthia Carr, B.F.A., M.F.A. " During the 1980's, I settled in central Kentucky. After purchasing a small
farm on a scenic hilltop, I set up a pottery studio. The rural and simplified lifestyle is reflected in my
work. I mix my own clay and glazes that are fired in a propane kiln that I built. The part-time venture
became a full time livelihood in 1991. Functional high fire stoneware with reduction glazes is produced
and sold through the studio, juried art fairs, retail outlets, and galleries. A product development grant
from the Kentucky Arts Council has helped lead me in a creative and exciting direction exploring the
combination of clay, metal, and found rustic items. Garden items include Garden Jewels, Garden
Totems, bird houses and bird baths. Designs for hanging lamps and floor lamps are currently being
explored and created. I have 3 Labs I took in as adults, a Beagle mix that was drop off on my road, and a
14 1/2 pound cat that appeared during the ice storm,".

Marianne Brown, " I have been producing pottery full time in Anderson County for 13 years. When my
husband and I moved from Memphis, TN we brought Sammy with us, Sammy had been a stray dog.
After we moved, we built a studio and kiln, and started a pottery business behind our house in Fox
Creek. In the time since, we have adopted another dog, Lucy; and cat Buddy. They are all members of
the family! ".

Nelson Maynard,  Born and raised in Pike County, Kentucky, Nelson Maynard now resides in the
greater Glensboro metropolitan area, where he could, if he were so inclined, easily interdict all
commercial traffic on the Salt River with a single black-powder mortar battery.  He is a teller of tales,
semi-professional purveyor of alleged opinions, and a great proponent of people-powered sewing.
When he’s not messing about with sewing machines, he has been known to snap the odd photograph
or two, one of which was published in the 2008 edition of the University of Kentucky arts journal
Limestone.

Virginia Maynard, Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Virginia Maynard took an early interest in
photography, and she developed an eye for landscapes while on trips with her family during her youth.
After moving to Anderson County in 2001, she was quickly captivated by the rolling hills and rural
structures of her new surroundings, and she has over the following years extensively documented the
Anderson County countryside, as well as nearby locations in central Kentucky.

Sandy Kiser was born in Harrodsburg, but moved to Lawrenceburg not long after and has lived most of
her life here. She serves on the board of directors for the Humane Society and started her volunteer
work there after finding an abandoned kitten that she took to the shelter. She has been volunteering for
about five or six years now, heading up the spay/neuter assistance program, updating the Petfinder
listings and doing web design for the Humane Society's website,
www.andersonhumane.org. Sandy
has one dog, Molly, who she rescued when she was abandoned in a local restaurant parking lot as a
small puppy. She works full-time at a local accounting firm and enjoys spending time with her husband,
Teddy, and practicing her new favorite hobby of photography.

Nancy Thompson " I have been a resident of Anderson County all of my life. I suppose my love of art
came from my father, A.J. Ross, he was always sketching or drawing in his spare time. I enjoyed
drawing as a child but did not pursue it, until 1986 when I took an art class and I was hooked. I use
acrylic paints, color pencils and woodburning on primarily gourds, wood, glass and fabrics, and have
started a business called, 'Creative Pastimes' & are creating a website. We have adopted our wonderful
dogs from the Humane Society in Anderson County and my granddaughter and I have recently become
volunteers at the Humane Society,".

Vicky Johnson " Art has always been a huge part of my life - even as a child. My art training has come in
stages as I have been exposed to teachers and methods that have helped me develop my talents. I
have an Associate of Arts degree in education and have studied under four major teachers. Drawing, oil
painting, watercolor & acrylics are mediums I have greatest experience. I have made my living teaching
and selling art for the past thirty years and at present - pottery is my latest passion. By using my drawing
& painting experience I believe I am creating some unique pieces,".

Paul Hatton Mr. Paul Hatton and his wife (Carolyn Hatton) became interested in photography before
retiring from Lexmark, and they were able to invest in quality photography equipment. A co-worker asked
them to photograph her wedding, and their business grew from there. They have now been in the
photography business for twelve years, converting their garage into a studio. Most of their business
comes from clients who see Paul's work or by word of mouth. Their clients consist primarily of high
school seniors, families and photographing weddings. Mr. Patton has also done some commercial
work, and enjoys all types of photography. Most of all, Paul claims to enjoy getting up early in the
morning and driving through the country and taking photographs of the beautiful farms and horses.. and

since attending a Photo Weekend in Cumberland Falls State Park over thirty years ago & have attended
numerous photography workshops since that weekend.  I became a founding member of the Capital
City Camera Club in Frankfort, where I have resided for the past 36 years. In that time,  I have celebrated
my love of nature & the outdoors by documenting the simple joys of nature through photography.  I
started out with film, but now do only digital. I have learned that Nature photography is an ongoing
process of learning and improving your skills."  Gary has won many awards and been published by the
